Rusling
The Rusling Family, by James Fowler Rusling (Philadelphia, 1907). 8vo, 160 pages of text and 17 interleaved images. Digital Edition on CD-ROM © February 2003, prepared by a descendant, John Rusling, of San Marino, California.
James Rusling, purportedly the first of the name in America, came to this continent from Hull, England, in 1795. He settled first in New York, but soon removed to New Jersey. Though not numerous, his descendants are now largely found in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, Texas, and Canada.
An account of James's ancestors and descendants, this genealogy was written by his grandson and namesake, General James Fowler Rusling, a gifted and prolific author, whose books mostly detail his life and times during the era of the U. S. Civil War. The family was closely allied well into the twentieth century with other prominent English and American families, including FOWLER, HANKINSON, and MCCULLOUGH.
