Descendants of Richard Everett, Dedham, Mass., by Edward Franklin Everett (Boston, 1902).  8vo, 389 pages, including a 47 page index, with five interleaved images.  The Digital Edition, published on CD, © January 2006

Richard Everett settled in Dedham as early as 1636.  He had two wives, by whom he sired eleven children.  Of these eleven, four sons -- John, Samuel, Israel, and Jedediah -- married and had progeny, whose descent is recorded through eight additional generations.

Luminaries of the family include a fair sprinkling of ministers and missionaries, poets and politicians.  At least three Everetts served in the U. S. Congress during the Nineteenth Century William Everett, in 1893; Horace Everett, from 1828 to 1843; and Edward Everett from 1824 to 1835.  Edward also served his nation as Governor of Massachusetts (1835 to 1839), Minister Plenipotentiary to England, President of Harvard University, Secretary of State (1852), and Senator (1853).

Related families include, most notably, ADAMS, ALLEN, AVERED and AVERY (variations of Everett), BAKER, CLARK, DAVENPORT, ELLIS, FISHER, HALE, HILL, JOHNSON, LEWIS, MILLER, POND, RICHARDSON, SMITH, SWIFT, WELD, and WHITNEY.  For all the other related families see the on-line index.
