Descendants of Richard Church of Plymouth, Massachusetts, by John A. Church (Rutland, Vermont, 1913), 354 pages, including a thirty-page index. The Digital Edition on CD-ROM © October 2004.

This Church family genealogical history features ten generations of Richard Church's descendants.  Richard Church, born in 1608, came to American in 1630, possibly with the Winthrop fleet.  He settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he took the freeman's oath, 4 October 1632.

Early immigrant families of America have distinguished themselves in subsequent generations by achievements as clerics, politicians, mariners, soldiers, or business men.  This Church family seems to have had a proclivity for journalism.  It includes founders of several prominent periodicals, which thrive to this day (e.g., The Army and Navy Journal), and includes the author of the immortal "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus," the text of which is reproduced verbatim in this publication.

Significant collateral families, as shown in the index, include BORDEN, BRIGGS, CHAPMAN, SIMMONS, SMITH, and WOOD.  For a complete list, download the Name List.
